
David Cortright was Drafted Army 1968-71. GI organizing at Fort Hamilton, New York and Fort Bliss, Texas. One of a group of GIs who filed federal court suit against Army, Cortright V. Resor, alleging that transfers, work assignments and changes in duty were an attempt to suppress First Amendment rights. Author of Soldiers in Revolt, a major study of GI resistance during the Vietnam War, and Left Face, an examination of soldier resistance and trade unions in the armies of many countries. Former Executive Director of SANE and now visiting Fellow at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame and President of the Fourth Freedom Forum.
